This tent is awesome! I was a little nervous because I'd been looking for a tent appropriate for the beach and my 1 1/2 year old AND 12 year old, and couldn't get anything until last minute. After reading reviews for several tents this seemed like the best bet, and I have to say it really is great. It was shipped quickly and in good condition, and the seller had emailed a shipping confirmation with a note about checking out a youtube video for closing it, and to try to close it before actual use. Upon opening the actual baggy it comes it (which is great because it's also a little backpack) it popped right up into formation. The pegs/stakes are in a little pouch and easy to assemble. The night before the beach my husband looked on youtube and just by glancing here and there at the video he was able to put it back in the bag first try. Beach day, and it was set up in seconds. It was a pretty breezy day and our mini umbrella flew away twice, but this tent stay in place perfectly. We filled all sand bags and made sure the stakes were in properly. We were all really pleased with this and are excited to use it for just about every outdoor activity. My 1 1/2 yr old loved it, and it provided great shade and a little break/rest time when the sensory overload of the beach was just too much. I really suggest this tent... I was able to hang out in the tent with my son, and my husband even laid back and rested a bit for a little shade.
I'll admit, I was very skeptical when testing this tent out in my kitchen. The company claims that it's super easy to put away, but for about 15 minutes I struggled. Then I watched a YouTube video that they supplied in an email, and it made much more sense. On our first beach trip, I figured I'd make a fool of myself at the end of the day trying to pack this up, but I was able to get it back into the packaging on the first try.
The only reason that i give it 4 stars is because the anchoring clips are really best suited for soil - they slide easily out of the sand. Throughout the day, the tent would pull a clip out, leaving the clip behind in the sand - I am really surprised that I didn't lose any of them.
The standard larger plastic clips would be far more beneficial for this setup.
Love it. Opens up in 2 seconds. Fits in small bag that has simple backpack straps that work great. Weighs like a pound. Has sandbags to fill with sand to weigh down. Very inexpensive. There is a learning curve for folding it up though. Be prepared to learn how, and practice at home first so you don’t look like a bumbling fool at the beach:). Also note that tents like this aren’t great for very windy days, you’ll need to weight down, stake, and possibly lash down.
My wife and I and our baby fit in it. It even fit in our carry-on suitcase to Cape Town. Zero complaints. If anyone is unhappy with this product, they probably are unhappy about a lot of things.
I am so happy I bought this tent for our beach vacation. I didn't want to pay to rent cabanas or umbrellas. I wanted to own an easy pop-up tent to use again and again. It's not huge. But it can shield your face while lying, and a couple people can site under it. I mostly like it for shielding our belongings. With the stakes and the sand-filled pockets, it held up great in significant breeze. And best of all, when folded it does fit in the bottom of a carry-on suitcase.
When folding it, just don't overthink it. Flatten the opposite dark blue sides together. Then fold it down, in half. From there just push the sides in on themselves, and let the circles take shape and double over each other. Other beachgoers seemed a little envious and mesmerized, when they watched us clear our beach spot so quickly and easily.
I went back and forth on whether to order this pop up tent. My wife and I were planning a ten day trip to Durban and didn't want to have to rent an umbrella everyday and didn't have the space in suitcases to take one of our own. I'm incredibly glad I opted for this tent . It comes from Iconix packed in it's carry bag and pops out to full size almost instantaneously once removed. It was easily big enough to fit both of us and a couple of day packs or coolers in between. Other reviewers' difficulties repacking the tent had me worried but after about five minutes or trial and error in my living room I figured it out. One of the top comments for this product has a pretty good video showing the process. By the third or fourth time, I could fold the structure and have it back in its bag in less than a minute. I really like that the ground cloth is attached and extends out quite a bit from the tent. I also really like the the roll up ventilation panel in back and the three sand bags sewn into three sides. Even on the windiest of days on the beach the tent wasn't going anywhere with the pockets filled with sand. The tent weighs next to nothing, is easy to carry and packs into any standard checked suitcase easily. Overall it was a great value for the less than R300 we paid and more than got the job done
